Pulled the covers off the datto just after New Years Day and checked a few things.
( Mainly that rodents haven't set up house inside!)
Haven't really done much to the datto in the last few months as i still need to purchase a clutch, after market Harmonic Balancer and a new set of coil packs before I can place engine and gearbox back inside car.
I Got the gearbox repaired by a friend after knocking off the small lug that sits at the lowest point when i was taking the car off the trailer before i put it in storage. It removed just enough metal to allow all the oil to leak out but luckily not enough that it couldn't be fixed. I'm certainly no boil maker by trade but I asked how he did it, using a medium heat with a Tig welder and applying wet rags to the front and rear of the gearbox to help protect the seals, he managed to successfully weld a small amount of metal back into it and then cleaned it up as best as possible using a grinder. Whole thing only took an hour which was pretty good and only for $50!
Was very happy that i didn't have to fork out $500 for another used gearbox
