Thanks. They are Hastings rings and I know that the dot faces upwards I'm just not certain of the order they go in. I'll call Hastings tomorrow and hopefully they can tell me. The thought of assembling them the wrong way is painful enough.

I didn't realise till I took the rings out of the box that the compartments were labelled with which ring goes where.

Could someone please tell me if the bevelled ring is the top or second ring?

Thanks

Thanks for the info, I would also like more information on resizing the crank if anyone has it.

Thanks bakat, I had previously given up on the calculator because I couldn't understand it but I gave it another go and think I've gotten it to work.

The calculator gives me a deck clearance of 3.75mm with RB30ET pistons and L24 rods.

I would like to put forged pistons and conrods into a z18et engine and I'm trying to come up with a good option from parts available off the shelf.

Currently I'm leaning towards using L24 forged conrods and RB30ET 0.50 (86.5mm) forged pistons.

Something I'm worried about is that from my calculations, (which may be wrong as I'm new to this), tell me I would end up with a deck height of -3.85mm.

I'd like to know if this could be a problem and if I am able to shave the block enough to correct it if it is a problem.

Also if anyone could tell me of a better combination they know of or if I'm eve on the right track that would be great.

Cheers

Good luck with the build rb20.

I am preparing to put a z18et into my 1200 coupe so I am very interested in how you are mounting your engine and gearbox and how you are modifying the sump.

Cheers

Yeah it came with the roof and it neatly fits over the cage and lines up well where it was cut.

Next time I dig it out of the shed I'll put it on and take a photo.

Thanks for the welcome.

This 1200 Coupe I bought quite a few years ago for no other reason than I couldn't help myself. No solid plans apart from doing 'something' with it one day.

Thanks trb012.

I should have mentioned it's going into a 1200 coupe so the shock absorbers will have to be mounted on the plate as well.
