Hi..I have a datsun 1200cc B110 engine and need to hone out a little rust in the cylinder walls. How many .001 thousandths can I remove and still use original pistons? What size oversize pistons are available if I need to go that way?

I picked up an A12 engine and the cylinder walls have a slight rust near the tops. I plan on honing out the walls but how much would be too much?

Need to convert A12 1200cc engine to propane. Anyone do this or suggest reference to do it. Engine will be stationary and run at 3600 rpm

Hey, great idea putting the two side by side instead of inline. I usually think of everything but didn't think of that. Just goes to say. Two heads are better than one.

Thanks for the info. My intent is not to reverse engine rotation as I believe that would create many new issues. Some and I believe most engines have the crank offset slightly from true vertical of the cylinder so the downward push on the piston during the power stroke is more straight. Reversing the rotation the power stroke would be on the other side at a greater angle and more stress on the pistons and rods. Then there would be cam timing and timing chain issues as you said.

I have used a 2 gpm hydraulic pump on the front end of a 1972 1200cc engine through a love joy coupling for over 15 years at pressures of 2200 psi, to raise the boom on my windmill boom truck with no problems. You might calculate HP needed for that. Doesn't seem to load the engine much at all.

I plan to run a 12 KW power generator off the front end of a 1200cc Datsun engine. The generator requires CCW rotation so need to do it that way. Anyone have any long term concerns about doing this. I'm thinking a flywheel on the front end would take out vibrations that could be induced from the generator. Comments.

I should have also said I disconnected the 12V to the choke so it is inoperative.

My original carb did not have the anti diesel cutoff, nor did the replacement. I believe that was for 1972 model only. It does not have any of the other add ons you mentioned. Yes. as mentioned previously all jets and bleeds are correct per the spec sheet.

Yesterday, I disconnected the throttle link arm to the auto choke and rotated the choke housing so the choke was just fully closed. Started the engine and the unloader opened the choke to the recommended opening. The engine now runs great at idle and high speed with choke about 90% closed. So I guess I will leave it that way for now. Not sure how the engine would performed using the power, accelerator, or secondary mode but since I don't need that it won't matter. As I said earlier the engine only needs to idle or mid throttle for working the 8000 lb. winch and the 2 gpm hydraulic pump.

I've already checked the vacuum advance line. I sucked on the hose going to the distributor and the advance works and holds. No leaks. Did the same to the choke unloader dash pot and it moves and holds. No leaks. Now that the engine runs smooth at idle should show no vac leaks. There are five functions to a carburetor. Idle, above idle to max throttle, power, accelerator pump and choke. Something is screwey when an engine idles but needs 90% choke to run above idle.
