ok been back to the cars (in storage) and despite me being under the bonnet a thousand times i never noticed the compliance plate. so i think i will have solved one car. 2/72 and it was one which was built/assembled in Aus. the plate states it was manufactured by Nissan (Aus) P/L.
however the other car has nothing, no plate and no holes where the other car had its plate (passenger side bulkhead), although there are 4 small holes behind the battery which the other car does not have. So if the car was an actual import (manufactured in JP ) would the compliance plate be behind the battery?
please check
thanks Duncan

To the community, a plea. I have imported 2 1200 coupes into UK from the fair country of Australia (cheers chaps). I did actually live there , It’s a long story but in order to register them I need to prove their date of first registration or manufacture. I have no pre import registration documents from the mother country (Australia) and I have sought info from Nissan Uk, Nissan Japan and Nissan Aus. All have been no help. Both cars have original Vin plates and matching numbers. The DVLA will only accept OEM info or from a recognised source, any ideas?
