I was trying to align my steering and the shop is saying i need to replace my idler arm.
It is quite hard to find the idler arm so i was wondering if i can use idler arm from b210.

I was coming home late and i noticed weird squiking sound. Then chg light came on.
First of all it is three in the morning and i was just few minutes from home.
So i just drove carefully as possible.
Then there was puff of smoke just a light before home.
Now i am extremely scared thinking something blew up but car was moving fine.
I hurried home park and open the hood.
And i noticed two things.
First belt is completely broken off.
Second fan is not turning at all.
Now i am really concerned.
If it is just the v belt issue i think i can fix it.
But i always thought fan would be turning straight from the engine.
It was not moving as if it comepletely seized up.
Like i said car was driving normal as far as i can tell.
Please help me.

Thank you for your help I will check on the distributor for its connection.
I just found it odd it would only happen when it rains and when I have light and wiper on but randomly.
I have been reading around to make my car reliable so I can use it everyday so upgrade suggestion are welcomed.

As part as I can tell the thermostat is still in place.
Would that cause sudden stops during driving?

Hot spark upgrade is meant for more of reliability issue I have.
I have notice sudden engine stop in heavy rain and sometimes cold weather.
It does seem like it may be cause of old coil so i figure it may help it minor upgrade in that aspect.
I will be happy any input in that regards.

Currently my tires are at 195 60 r14.
So I guess I'm fairly close.
I have downshifting to 2nd gear uphill few times but never too sure if that will be okay.
Like I said this is one question I was pondering for a bit.
I guess now will good time to consider hot spark upgrade.

I have 1971 datsun 1200 2dr sedan.
It has very few upgrade I manage to put together.
First my carb broke down so I had to install new Weber carb downdraft.
Second wheels issues so I have installed 14 inch rim and tires for better traction.
Third my mechanical fuel pump failed so I have installed new electric fuel pump.
For the most part I am extremely happy with my datsun.
But, one thing I have issue is how it doesn't seem to have enough power when going uphill. Please understand I am not a car guy so I am learning as I study my datsun. I have been reading everything I can about my car but I have not been able to pinpoint my next direction.
My datsun is original automatic.
It has a12 engine I adore. I do not wish to make it into a sleeper nor I wish to race it so engine swap is not what I would like to do.
I may consider converting into manual transmission because I have drove manual for years before this car.
However I am wondering if there is other option create more torque while being automatic?
Should I just give up on the idea and consider converting to manual.
I know this may be a stupid question but I would like some help.

I had my datsun for 2years now. I have made few upgrades to the car however now I am thinking where I should take my baby to.
First upgrade was Weber carb upgrade.
Second I have put 14 inch wheels on it.
Third electric fuel pump upgrade.
Last thing I did was rewiring electric wires inside.

I would like to keep my car original as much as possible.
So engine swap is not desirable.
I currently have automatic transmission.
I would like to go to manual transmission. (deciding between 4 speed 's. 5 speed)
Sway bar is something considering but not on top of list.
Of any of the members can help me with some advice it will be deeply appreciated.

For sure I'm getting a new carburetors. Weber conversion seems to be definite. I'm having my few friends getting it for me while I'm looking for new seat. TakInc my back seat completely out to put something else in.(its completely destroyed and I'm not looking to have people jumping in the back anyways.)
