No I dont' have an identifying code but I'II try to find one.I'm going to ask the store i took it and I hope to tell me.Anyway I didn't know the code of the engine but optically it was exactly the same as our's,the same size, the same wires all of it.!!!

p.s it's a FWD model, the first with electronic ignition.

My old motor is an A12.I say that because now I'm fixing an A14.Well with my old motor i had problems with my ignition and i didn't know what to do.One day I saw a honda accord '81 and the distributor was the same,so I decide to take it.My engeneer told me that we had a problem with the shaft because it was longer and the gear was diferent, but he told me not to worry as we had my old distributor. So we took the old shaft and gear as it was and put it to the new distributor. Then we install the little box with all the wires and here we are without problems any more!!!

Chris is it Ok?
I hope it's the answer you want.

I will try to take a foto to show you

It depends if you realy love your 1200 or not. Some of the members have other job to do more important.I don't say that it's bad because some people have other priorities. Some are married and have children, or work too much so they don't have time for this.So once in two days or three day I think is good enough

With my litle experience i think it's your valves.
Did you push and lower your head?
If you did it without putting stronger valve springs you have fire behind your ass, because the exhaust valve is still open for millisec when the intake valce opens to fill with gas.So some of your gas getting away through your pipe.
Now about the smoke i think it's the gaskets.

(sorry about my english)
