I had a very nasty tramping situation in my datsun 1000 after I swapped my drag motor in.
I swapped out the standard springs with the modified leaf (re-set) springs from the drag car in to the old fella along with all new urethane bushes, it still trapped like (some tramping thing).
I had all but given up, and changed my driving style to suit. I thought that the pinion angle may be the culprit, so I swapped the drag cars diff (re set 15 or so degrees up) but it was still tramping like a tramping thing.
Turns out (no word of a lie) I had a dream, that the standard engine mounts ( original 1967 items) were to blame. I got the trusty mig out and whipped up a new solid passenger side mount and trans mount, And shiver me timbers. It seems so obvious now but hey. It doesn't take long, or much effort to solid mount your motor (It does vibrate quite a bit at certain revs). It cured the tramping issue in my car. Maybe you need to swap out your engine mounts out for some stiffer ( urethane or solid items). Hope it helps. G

I'm thinking of taking the old boy ( My '67 B10 sedan) to the street drags this weekend at Baskerville. Any other Datophiles coming out? Last time I went I had a ball. All you need is a registered car, decent shoes, and a helmet. I think they are running a 8th mile, and burnout comp. I'll try the 8th mile. But they can shove the skids. (The old boy is only running a stock diff these days. Plus I have to drive it home) I'll be getting a full tank of E85 and tuning it for 25 psi tomorrow. Hoping to see many more A series or any other dattos on Saturday. Cheers. G O T H E D A T!

Hey, My mum and dad are doing their usual anual migration to Palm Cove in the next couple of months. For the past few years they have taken their trusty VR SS commodore, but the three thousand plus Kays each way tend to take their toll on both the car and the old fellas back. I have suggested that after the cost of the ferry, petrol, and accommodation, they would be better off hiring a car or taxi to get about (down to the shops, doctors, surf club etc). The old fella seem set in his mind he wants to buy some sort of cheap reliable run about and the re sell it before the leave. He has done this before and lost a she'd load of money. So I was wondering if anyone in the cairns/palm Cove area has a tidy reliable car (sunny, bluebird, skyline, or some sort of corolla, corona etc). They will only need it for a few months (max) and Will pay a reasonable price for a good car. They will also need to be able to resell when they are done. If you have something that is taking up space and could do without it for a couple of months, (for some good beer money) please let me know. He will probably throw some good money at it for tyres and brakes. Cheers. Glenn.

The easiest option would be to get an a-series 5-speed from a sunny (?) but these are pretty rare, tend to be way over priced and not real strong.
I got a toyota celica 5-speed and bellhousing from dellow automotive, they have been making them for years and ship them world wide, they are an excellent product. But not real cheap.
If you are going to put a turbo on the beast in the future then I would seriously look at up-grading the clutch as the one dellow supplies is only a standard datsun unit modded to suit the toyota spline.
I found a nice fat drive shaft (2 door torana)? with the larger style unis at the local wreckers for about $20.00 that fitted perfecly. Sure beats getting a custom unit made up ($600+)
Cheers,
G

I`ve never really had any issues with it on hot days (we don`t get that many in Tas.)
I have lifted the bonnet about an inch at the rear (drift style)and this lets a shed load of heat out.
It is also fitted with a three row radiator core.

I had a similar problem with my 240z (triple 45 dcoe webers) it would cough and spit at light throttle openings.
I stripped and cleaned them out and also replaced the soft mount gaskets. It still coughed and spitted.
In the end I re-set the linkages and it was all good.
Maybe this could be your problem, check them first before spending your hard earned.
Cheers,
G

I`ll fill a jar with E85 and put a section of fuel hose in for a couple of weeks and see what happens. I`ve been running this brew for about twelve months with no problems yet.

Cheers, The fuel lines are stock and I believe united E85 and E10 have an additive to help with the corrosion issues of past. I does however eat your paint though.

Yeah it is a zenith stromberg CD2. Size is 1.75. I finally got the clutch sorted, in the end I had to use 4 puck sprung AE86 clutch plate and a exeedy racing pressure plate, now she really hooks up well.
