i have a 1200 coupe, stripped down to a bare rolling shell, no windows, etc...
im looking for somebody in Victoria who can set up a decent 4-link setup for drag, and design a suitable roll cage as well. any recommendation would be much appreciated!

ok i dumped the oil... still very clean. i poped the axels out, and they were fine, and seated very tight. i did notice however the ends of the axels where they meet looked like they had been touching... they looked a bit scored.
that washer i was talking about would have been sitting flush in between the two axels.

ok ill try that... the diff was second hand. didnt pay anything for it, so im not fussed if its rooted. the previous owner did mention something about "needs to be re-shimmed" whatever that meant.
its goes perfect in a straight line, which would rule out the axels not sitting in properly - wouldnt it?
so the noises/problem are definitely internal?

hmm... any chance the type of oil has anything to do with it?
im using Penrite Limslip 90... would it be advisable to use the 85w140 type? there is also the LSD additive for the oil, but i havn't put it in because i thought it was already blended in the Limslip.

your talking about removing the washer in the middle? its only about a 1mm thick, and about an inch in diameter

there doesn't seem to be any shims on the outer surface used to position the axles...
without opening up the centre, is there any way i can locate the thrust block?
one other thing - in the middle of the centre where the axles meet, there seems to be a washer with roughly the same diameter of the axle spline. it was just floating around in there, so when i tapped one axle in, i seated it properly, then tapped the other axle in. any idea of what this washer is/does? i dont think its meant to be loose like that!

but i thought the shims either side of the bearing races were just to align the ring gear with the pinion.
what does the thrust block look like? its not the 15mm shim i was talking about, because there is only one in there.

this diff is on my S13... only the centre has been changed. the housing and shafts are the original parts.
which the shafts fully in, should they be touching in the middle at all?
