sounds like the machine is not being setup properly. It obviously has a setting showing where the weights are being placed on the rim?
Other possibles....rim is out of shape, but would most likely show up on the balancer with a whole lot of weights needed. Also, could be a vibration from somewhere else....
Or... Buldge in tyre? check these things, and try changing rims front to rear, sometimes a vibration is the front may not be felt in the rear (sometimes).
Changed a few tyres in my life, but am far from an expert. Never heard of this ring?
PS. Just re-read your post. Is it a vibration? or a wobble? wobble may not be wheel related, more suspension

What exactly is the story with this engine? Did you blow a head gasket, and changed heads at the same time? Thats obviously not the head that was on it, coz you said it didn't have a hole.
We run it without the cover on, and not a drop of oil was to be seen. Is it the A-series push-rods that have the hole for the oil to travel up? cant remember.
Pretty sure oil travels up past the T-bolt, coz it's skinnier, and up into the rocker assembly....
Or straight from the block up into the head via that little hole your gonna drill....
been a while since i worked on A-series. Have you got the head off? I can pop round have a look if you like...on the weekend

Ahhh, that was your car matt at my workshop the other day....
Was gonna ask on here who's it was, i saw the datsun1200.com sticker....
What did you put on the head gasket? some silicone based silastic? Thats your problem there, i could see it all squishing out the side between the head and the block. You've blocked the hole.
looks good though....nice coupe
take care

Toll is the cheapest.....no doubt, i've looked into it as well. Also working for a car yard we shipped cars from NSW to adelaide monthly....
Running would cost about 500..... They've obviously told you 1200 a) because it's not running, and b) because your a private citizen.

I have delt with both rory and doug....
Take the quote rory gave you to doug, and he will most likely do it cheaper...alot cheaper...
Rory himself is a good engineer....but i think the people he gets to do the work arent up to speed....
Rory engineered my soarer. Regency rejected me twice because my CSR's (Child Safety Restraints) werent in the right spot. I took my receipt and car back to rory, and he said it couldnt have been him that put them in the wrong spot.... must have been someone else, even with the receipt with chassis number on it? pissed me off......
He fixed it, but still was headache paying for another 2 inspections....
And my intrusion bars looks pretty average....
Go with Doug Potts, never had any issues with him...

For future reference, anyone in adelaide dealing with a guy named Goran, looks like a half evolved monkey, and drives around either gemini's or datsuns beware. I dont make it a habit of slagging people on public forums but this guy takes the cake for assholes.... From ripping his friends off, to stealing their cars and parts (he stole a steering wheel from me, among other things). Buy a car off him at your own risk. He'll probably keep the spare key and take it back and sell it again. If this was any other thread other than my own, i wouldnt be having a rant /end rant
