haha i had a 306 and in about 3 months it rattled like a ashtray full of coins, the central locking died, the trans died and then the timing belt skipped the cogs and smashed the valves and pistons, even b4 the 80,000 km replacement was due, and these are just some of the common problems on them, but do handle well. thers my essay on peugeots.

and now for the brown? with that big battery tray u could put a battery box on it, saves the acid fumes corroding all the electric connections around it.

i followed that wiki, same as the instructions in the original nissan manual. start at no 1 TDC set lifters 1235, rotate 1 turn to no 4 TDC and set lifters 4678. U end up with all the valves closed at once and that cant be right.

sure they dont dominate the dakar for the last few years for nothing, but i found in junior motoX (not me riding lol) and lots of others who got one cos they were the most competetive bike that parts like clutches and forks and chain tensioners were not lasting long and expensive to replace.

I have rebuilt my motor but not starting???

it spins fast enough, has decent spark, rotor is at no 1 lead at no 1 tdc, correct firing order and direction and enough fuel.

Im thinking maybe its not on compression stroke with the valves when no 1 fires. I have 2 books one original nissan and the other a gregorys, both say set it at compression stroke but dont say how to make sure it is on compression stroke.

Im thinking it should be both valves closed and the intake about to open with the exhaust staying closed. Is this correct?

cheers, john
