Yes it is a rolling shell and it is a coupe, not a two door sedan. It is located in Bayswayter, Vic. Pix up soon i hope

What about the possibility of worn throttle shafts allowing air leaks? I don't know which carb you are using, but the symptoms are similar to some i've seen with Holley carbs.

I agree, definately a dud ballast resistor. I had this prob in my old 1600 and a couple of customers cars.

1200RC, the centre you need is the 27 spline one from a 1600 wagon. I have a 3.9 one in my y, if i can find a 4.4 i'll let you know. Or you could go up in rolling diameter of your wheels/tyres.
