Ive done a couple of CA18 conversions in the last few years using front cuts. These have been for other people and every time i say that i will not attempt it again. Well this time this one is for me for our business as a delivery ute
My question is
I have on both occassions used the CA box and auto tunnel, and a commercially available fitting kit, which brings the gear lever right back. A supposedly knowledgable fellow from one of these import places said that an RB30/VL gearbox would be shorter and that the CA bellhousing would fit onto the sandwich plate of this box. So I bought a reco one and you guessed it, it does not fit.The numbers cast into this box are RP71C#1
What box will fit the CA bellhousing and be shorter and what car is this shorter box from

Thanks

PS If anyone is after a reconditioned RB30/VL five speed I have a spare one !!!!!

Is it an easy job to swap the belhousing from a CA18 to a VL (RB30 ?) 5 speed. Is there much that has to be done ? or is it pretty straight forward, I only ask as it would create a substantially shorter box to put in a 1200.

Thanks

Time for the old girl to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!
1973 Datsun wagon, Reg to 1 December. Not a speck of rust, but does have some dents. I bought this off the original owner. It is stock right down to the washer bag and hub caps
I still have the original books and service manual
I want $3,500 for it but this does include a brand new second hand, not butchered coupe dash IE the whole of the dash, a 1200 coupe disc brake front and if I get $3500 for it, Ill re trim the front and rear seats back to original as they are a bit sad
Colour is lovely army green
