Hi guys, its been a while since I posted and Im having a shed clear out. here are the links to the stuff I have for sale. Im located near Newcastle NSW.
a good sized coolant system is the key. For an A sres a gemini radiator with a genuine nissan 75 degree thermostat is perfect.(along with electric fan) water plus inhibitor with anti boil anti freeze is recommended in the ratio the manufacturers spec on the bottle. They can help keep temps under control..dont just use plain water. The right radiator cap is the big key...the wrong ones wont seal or dont have the right pressure rating. A radiator system needs the right pressure to allow proper contact with the water jackets and keep air bubbles from developing. Also they are so cheap but a new water pump..the old ones vanes corrode dramatically dropping flow and cooling. With all this I could race my a series all day on a 40 degree day and keep temps atat 80 degrees. On top of this any hot a series MUST run an oil cooler. Permacool do a good kit. Oil temps stayed at 90 degrees. The engine can be flogged all day iunders these conditions.
never have too bigger brakes mate... they look like a good combo for the street. my race 1200 with an A-series had massive rotors and 4 spot willwoood calipers. This setup is a moderate sized brake combo not overkill at all. The stanza brake setup is just adequate for modified street, this is a bit better. I wouldnt run a booster though..you will get better feel without one. They look like the "premium" brake package from the 195 VR HSV's.
Ben as i said not having a go at you personally Im sorry you took offence...i have done track days and corporate days in the past where we supplied the formula ford, entry fee was $150-ish ea with car supplied and catering and fuel and track hire...and that was a real race car... Wakefield these days is a den of robbers and not that great-a-track. My suggestion is goto a simple practice day or off street speed day at any of the tracks where the cost is $80. Ive been to those days with a formula ford and 3 cars turned up...i did about 300-ish laps not bad bang for buck. $150 you will do that a few times and due to lack of interest you will come up a negative in your bank balance im just trying to protect you from doing your dough...
If u made a profit this time thats great but you will get stung by the track if you do continue to do it. I applaud your organisation efforts to do this type of thing....just letting u know what you are up against....and that is cheap mid week track days where no one shows and u still pay $80.
check your plugs, replace them with NGK BP6ES (hot) A series like new plugs.. they like fresh plugs frequently as when they carbon track in the electrodes they will cause bad starting and idling...
