Thanks Dave, I've signed up for the yahoo group. With a careful bit of searching I've located a set of black buckets from a 2000 honda prelude on www.car-part.com this is an awesome site i've used for years, It's a virtual junkyard. If you havn't used this site, go and see what you've been missing. The price ranges are quite broad, there are some folks wanting over $1000ea for these seats but I found them here in NC for only $50ea. 95% savings.... yeah I'll take that. Does anybody know if they'll fit in the B210 ? I can weld so fabrication is not a problem, I just want to know if they fit length and width - wise. Thanks again guys

Thanks Keith, What year MR2 did you pull the seats from and did they bolt to the rails or did you have to weld them ?

Ok, lemme give you guys a bit more info. I live in High Point North Carolina, Any club members around here ? Neways, I found the car in one of my patient's backyards, I deliver home medical equipment, walkers wheelchairs, oxygen and stuff. As luck would have it I had to make another delivery there today and I checked out the car a little more thouroughly. The rust is not as bad as I had orriginally thought, mostly surface rust that I will be able to sand out and fill with bondo. There are a few problem areas though, like the underside of the rear quarter panels, But I believe they are fixable. The hood is bent up and rusted all along the unsderside, there are a few spots on the driver's door and a few more on the roof, but none of it goes thru. Under the hood is basically what you might expect from a 30 year old car, dirty and ugly, but nothing out of order. The interior is utter crapola, the driver's seat is destroyed and will need to be replaced before I drive it anywhere, Part of the console seems to be missing, there is a gaping hole above the radio and the ductwork is exposed surprisingly the car does not have a tach, just a datsun emblem to the right of the speedo, but it does have A/C. It has a nice set of 13" alluminum racing wheels and Khumo tires with at least 80% tread left on them. The weather stripping all around will need to be replaced but all the doors, windows, and hatch shut easily and securely, there is no frame sag here. I made an offer on the car today which the owner accepted, $250 he he. And as soon as he digs up the title I'm going to tow her home. I think I'll call her Lola. Speaking of seats, any suggestions on comfy sporty bucket seats with good bolstering that fit in this car would be greatly appreciated.

If I should buy this car, I have already priced and located all the parts I will need to do a major tuneup including replacing the buckled up hood and hatch, the only parts I cannot seem to find are suspension parts, does anybody know of a good source for springs and shocks ? Thanks

Greetings all you datsun fanatics,
As the title suggests, I might be buying a datsun B210 this weekend. At this stage I will not be heavily modifying the engine or making many upgrades at all. This car is just something to get me around for a year or two while I save up to buy my wife a nice new car. The car is in VERY rough shape, but as I understand it you just can't beat an old Dat for reliability. I need some advice from you guys on what specific problem areas to watch for, The car has a lot of rust but I don't know if it has cauased any serious structural integrity issues. I will be going to look at the car again on saturday, any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Oh, BTW the car is a 76? B210_gx hatchback with a 5spd trans, I know it needs a new distributor cap, but I plan to do a MAJOR tune-up as soon as I get it. Thanks in advance for your help guys - J |
