G'day, Yeah, and more bikes are in 'other' shed. You can never have too many bikes. What's that bike shown in your signature? I have the '95 speed Triple, '78 SR500 and 2 '73 Yam RT3s. The car is a '63 Triumph Spitfire. cheetrs paul

I'm in Essendon. The extractors that i have sweep too far back. I was going to have a set made up. The guy said he could fit them thru, its a gap of about 125mm. He then started on about getting a plate made up to bolt to the head...etc and I thought I'd take the easier/cheaper route. Its only a round port head and I'll be running a single 45mm dellorto. I have a 5 sp. o/d box for it. Even if I use a cast iron manifold, the pipe will have to drop vertically down as the back of the motor its far off the firewall. I would be interested in seeing what you had.
That mid sump model would make the mods required much easier. The one that I had modified has been superseded. I am yet to cut up the new one until I locate a donor sump that will give me plenty of capacity.

G'day, its a pretty poor pic of the '63 Spitfire in the shed. I'm in the process of a body off restoration. The motor's on the trolley and you can see the modified sump. The front cross member on the Spit meant I had to remove the front section of the pan and add capacity to the rear. The other 2 pics show some of the modifications to chassis and new engine mount positions. I've had the car for around 9 years, but now I'm motivated and want to get it done.

Thanks for the replies. yes, I guess that's what I'm after. The motor is going into a triumph spitfire and I purchased a s/h set of extractors but the angle sloping towards the rear was too shallow and it fouled the fire wall. I will sell the extractors as soon as I've solved this issue. I've been told that these manifolds are 'fairly' good in terms of flow. I know that the GX manifolds are probably better, but I'm better off with the single pipe setup as room is pretty tight between the chassis and motor.

Thanks, I've had my 'round port head' rebuilt, so I'll stick with it. All the manifolds that I have found have been the single stud type. All the 'multis' seem to be for oval port or for dual carbs. My original plan was to use a down draft, but it ended up too high for my Triumph's bonnet.

Can a 1200 round port weber sidedraft manifold be fitted to a later model A14 round port head (the one with 2 studs per set of ports, not the single stud between the ports) Can lugs be welded on? Can a single stud be threaded into the A14 head? Any advice welcomed.
