Been a while. Back in Oz for the moment sorting out property issues. Coupe changed hands a long while ago. Will have a sr20 motor/box for sale shortly and 1200 coupe interior once a few things sorted. 1000 wags was burnt in 2012 bush fires. No loss though, I cut it up enough for it to be worthless to anyone but me. Hope all the old fellas are still kicken strong - D,DD,Dodge,Sidedraught,Boof,Pepper,Team and all the others.

Thats team work, Ideas for new years resolutions for 2.
There is no harm in making others laugh. Don't friends laugh with/at each other? or is that only my strange friends?
In a few years time we can look back at this and see the day D made the laughing end.

Stick to one brand with all your paint products and use what ever that brand requires you to use. Do your research with the paint manufacturer and follow the process they recommend.

edp. if you just paint deoxidene on and thats it, you cant expect the best. Using it correctly is another thing.

Im not referring to the coating on replacement panels. Datsun 1000's were dipped from factory - this is what I am referring to D.

Mate I never said you have no clue. But you did confirm my point.
Find out who makes Glasurit Clear. You will get a surprise.

You might like to check with your paint suppliers (paint brand) and see what aussie company actually manufactures the paint for them. Not all but some.

If you are referring to house paint that's another story.

Liverpool Exhaust used to make them in their Hurricane Extractors brand.
They were fairly expensive $500+
I'm sure they would still have the jig to make them up.

D what is it that 1000's were dipped in from factory? That stuff has done a good job of keeping many 1000's relatively rust free.

There is nothing wrong with using good old deoxidene on surface rust. I would have no worries using it on the boot lid below. Deoxidene and scotchbrite or steelwool and scrub it. It will go black but you can keep scrubbing or wipe it off and then keep scrubbing till clean metal. Then wash it off with water. Then wipe the surface over with thinners or prepwash, then go about your normal repairs.

Deoxidene wont fix rust, it will only remove surface rust.

No need to scare monger about using it the way its intended.

The old girl has sat neglected for a while now. Need to get back into it this year.
The 1000 wag is still locked up in a shipping container. I have no plans to get back into it for a while yet. Time come though.
