Not sure about fitment to Datsun. I am only new to the datto scene. I have fitted S13 Silvia CA18de motor and transmission to a TX Gemini and had to position engine well forward to clear the shift lever from the handbrake assy. If the handbrake doesn't live in the tranny tunnel you may be ok. Best to get out the trusty tape measure and check first as it could save a lot of headache down the track. Been there...done that!

Brand new CA18 yoke and front uni assy, shortened and balanced tailshaft from Driveline Industries in Bris cost me $295. I think the only gearbox that will bolt up to the ca motor is a ca20 box from Pintara or I have been told that a series 3 bluebird box will fit. The bluebird box would be a better option if it fits as it is shorter. The CA box is very long and gearlever will be well back in tranny tunnel. you will probaly need the CA flywheel and clutch as I think the flywheel has 8 bolts and the other motors have a 6 bolt flywheel.

Can't speak for a series engines but I have had a few Gemini engines rebuilt thru Mendam engineering at Rocklea. The last block I had done was cleaned.bored to 1mm oversize, block decked, crank linished and new main/big end/rings supplied. Cost about $300. There is a place in Bullockhead St at Sumner Park that does my cylinder heads. Think its called Liddle's engineering. They have done several of my heads and rebuilt both my Sportster iron engine shovel heads with stainless valves. Top work and they into racing as well.

Recently acquired a Datsun 1000 wagon. The car is running but the engine is fairly tired. Was wondering which would be the best/easiest engine transplant. Would the a15 engine fit. I'm not familiar with datto's but have done CA18 conversions in Gemini's so a bit of cutting/welding and wiring would not be a problem. Dont want it to be a tyre smokin beast, just reliable with bit of extra punch.
