The way I see it you have 3 options:
1 - Cut your losses and sell it as is for $5-6K, maybe a lil more. its what the market will bear
2 - Part it out
3 - Finish it and sell it for a reasonable amount

Ive been following the FS thread for a while cause I am semi keen on the driveline & diff to get my coupe running again while the new motor is built, but I have no use for the shell and other parts and $10K is too much for me and I daresay for most people interested in it for this reason. Even someone looking to build a 1200 exactly this way is staring down the barrel of at least $5k to do paint & get parts made, wiring, tune, rego etc and there are enough already finished 15K 1200's with some pretty sweet fruit out there.

Yep and thats my Video!!! Small world. I was driving the WRX, remember this fondly as I saw Jonboy rock up with the ute I got all excited. Not sure if you remember but I came up and had a chat to you and your old man in the staging lanes about the ute.

Anything happening with this? Keen to attend in my 1600 if it goes ahead.

Yeah saw that but doesnt look like anything got organised? Not even a meet point posted, hardly any info, and most guys wanting the meet date to be 10/3.
My friend who saw the meet made it sound like it was relatively organised & a decent turnout. Checked in all the usual online places but cant find squat.

Havent really been able to discover much of a Datsun scene since moving to Perth, but last weekend a friend on mine apparently saw a decent sized meet around the Bassendean area? Anyone know anything about it? He says he saw Z's and 1600's.

Id be keen to check out the club/group behind the meet.

I used to be a sydneysider for many years, but been living in Perth since '08, living up near Joondalup. I am a Dato man, have a 1600 with SR20DET and also a long term love affair with a 1200 coupe. The coupe was fully restored 8 years ago but Ive beaten it up a little, so its just about to roll out of the paint shop this week hopefully after getting some panel work done and new paint.

Used to run a CA18DET, then an SR20DET, and now am currently building an SR16VET for it. Hoping to be the first to do it in a 1200, using the head & crank off an SR16VE engine (JDM VZR Pulsar) and assembling into a RWD SR20 block and turbocharging. Car will be arriving in Perth later this year :)

I always keep a keen eye out for Dato's in Perth, should start to see mine round a bit more now the 1600 is complete and the 1200 is well on its way!
