jinyu's ($??) and sailuns ($82) seem to be the flavor round here atm, when i actualy buy tires i get nankang ns2's (cost price was $110 each i think) or westlakes svd-200's ($8?). i got a whole day on the westlakes at the last winton day (6 half hour sessions + open last session) but not real grippy and i get 4 sessions on ns2's and i like the grip of these.

yeah get your self a machine, i use mine nearly every week. the only problem is getting rid of used tyres, some of my local shops wont take them any more with belts hanging out and the tip wants $6 a tire.

#OOPS# those manual tire machines!! there as good as a pair of $20 levers.. there ok for large profile tyres (60+) but i wouldnt be doing 235/45's on them..

those 14x6.5 & 14x7 +8 wata's would be a nice fit with only lipped guards.

even drop down to 15's and go a 195/45/15, 16's are a #OOPS# size to get tires for in general (not just talking about for dattos) and so expensive..

but yeah, if you want some low, drop your rim size to 13's or 14's. i want to drop back to 13's from 14's again as i still can find a tire im happy with and i want suspention and brakes that work..

if your gunna keep a light engine and a reasonable wheel size theres no reason the 1200 steering box wouldnt cope, plus they have more travel than most R&P's anyway. im having a hard time findimg a R&P that i can use in my coupe, most racks that are close to the width i need dont have anywhere near the travel i wont.. any ideas??

oh there is a dude here in vic (can never remember his name) building a s14 i think it was, with a manualised 2spd power glide with a cluch, but with full hand controls (brakes, handbrake, air operated clutch) as hes wheel chair bound. should be interesting to see how this gearbox setup goes, when he finishes it.

take your old one to your local brake shop and get a new one made, probably cost you $20 at the most..

if it has the usual z145 oil filter (like rb, sr, A-series) you should be able to get over the counter at autobahn etc.

wheelbased cars be harder to slide with less power?

not realy, for low power cars you usualy need more speed. the longer wheel base will be easyer to handle the speed with..
