Hello,
Got a bunch of 1200 coupe parts I need to get out of my way. All available for pick up in Mountain View, California. Will make a deal if you buy several items.
Two A12 engines. One ran fine but had a strange vibration problem at 3500 rpm. I was told that the other one runs well. $60 each or $100 for both.
A12 intake manifold $35
Two 4 speed transmissions (I can guarantee that one works) $75 for both
One 1200 coupe driveshaft (worked fine, no vibrations) ($40)
A relatively straight 1200 Sedan grill, disassembled ($50)
A12 alternator, $35
A12 starter, $35
Lightened A12 flywheel, $70
heater assembly, not sure if core is good, $25
windows for a whole coupe, (Windshield has big scratch, rest are good) make an offer
rear seats nicely recovered in black vinyl and a velour I believe, $30
Thanks, Daniel Call/text six five zero 776 2543. ddebolt at gmail.com

I'm digging up this thread once again because I've been getting questions about how I like using Bilstein VW rabbit shocks in my 1200 struts. I got some very cheap VW rabbit Bilstein sport strut inserts used, and did considerable work to mount the special dust seals on the threaded strut housing cap (required machining and welding). I drove from SF to LA with the struts and they seemed to work well with 300 pound springs, but it turned out that the struts were blown and leaking oil. I haven't done any more development as I've taken the engine out of the car and its been sitting for over a year. The good thing about Bilsteins however is that they can be revalved by Bilstein to suit the 1200's weight and any spring rate you use. Despite the trouble, I think they are the best option for the 1200 without spending big bucks on shocks. I'm sure Bilstein could also supply a rear shock (they have a extensive catalog online) custom valved for the 1200 to match.

Will pay up to $35 for a badly needed stock exhaust manifold with the down pipe (cut off just after it snakes under the car). I am located in Mountain View, Ca. Could pay shipping. -Daniel email ddebolt at gmail.com

The front is an independent suspension setup that won't fit easily in a 1200.

After reading David Vizard's book on how to tune the British A-series, I'm dead set on trying a single SU on my naturally aspirated A14. It sounds like all the benefits of twin SU's without the fuss. The only problem is I'll have to make a manifold, but that's still a hell of alot cheaper than the stock twin hitachi's in the US. I just picked up six old 1 3/4" SU's for $80!
It just seems strange that this isn't more popular for the 1200.

As far as I can tell these are the only cars you can find in a US junkyard with a h165 rear axle. Any problems using one? Width OK for a 1200? I'm assuming the car doesn't use leaf springs and it will require fabrication, but that's fine.
This rear end may take the TRD LSD that pitroad sells. If so, I'm stoked! I've seen those LSD''s on Ebay for $350 and there are plenty of drifters around here to supply them forever.

When you speak of A15's being undertuned, are you speaking of the ones I've seen equipped witht the round port head? I hope all of them in the US aren't like that - I've been hoping to find one with the h89 oval port head, but no luck in any junkyard from San Jose to Fairfield. I have seen the round ports though on several b310's, both the a14's and a15's had them.

the scuderi design seems interesting, but i want to see an actual running prototype. The fact that there isn't one seems suspect.
