for a first timer i would probably recommend SU's over bike carbs or DCOE style carbs. super easy to tune and maintain, and in AUS, im sure finding a set wont be too hard

when i added 3 inch velocity stacks to my SU's, i had to completely retune them. so yes, they make a difference.

i know they fit, but not with any sort of filters or velocity stacks.

and i was teh one who bought your SU manifold years ago, ddgonzal. i went back to single carb due to linkage issues i could never get rid of, and like a dummy i sold it to a guy from costa rica

in search of the a14t manifold. would like a US buyer, but would be willing to post from AUS or wherever. if anyone is interested, id also be down to straight trade for a DCOE manifold (too lazy to relocate master cylinders on my LHD sedan). PM me of just reply.
