I've got some 120Y bare struts with custom 5 studs sitting around. (see my pics)
These will be for sale soon. As well as a VN B/W complete diff, which is the same stud pattern as the custom hubs.
Let me know if your interested.

Hello,
have a 79 ute that it bare that I would like to get rid of.

As stated bare car, no doors front quarters bonnet etc... Also Rear LH quarter has been removed and also found front inner guard (Behind headlight) had been repaired. Nothing major, just needs to be smoothed over again.

Roof good, only one small bit of rust there, 5cent size. No rust in in behind the front guards on the top, like most 1200's. Has surface rust underneath as it was a country car and I believe was constantly blasted from country roads. hehe No rust around F/R windows.

Have removed battery bracket, cut out passenger floor pan, engine mounts removed from cross member, and new steering balljoints (all of them) new idler arm ect, even some Noltec bushes in there. Has rear diff, no other drive train components.

No interior or glass. Yeah sure she looks rough, but every project is stripped to this point at some stage. Is sitting at mates house, as I'm building new house and don't have room anymore.

I do have all new panels, VN diff, Custom 5 stud front hubs, WELD PRO stars, Haltech E8, but for the moment they are in storage and a pain in the ass to get to.

I don't have any current photo's as I've got crap everywhere at the moment, but I've tried to be as honest as possible.

Come and get it, $100 ono Brisbane north side (Brighton)

Nick - 0433 230 243

Please leave message and I will call you back, I can't normally answer my phone while I'm working.

Getting 180-220rw kw out of a 4AGZE (T) is not that hard, many have got much more! And in my opinion they appear to be a stronger engine. They are also smaller and sit lower in the engine bay.

The T50 sprinter box fits the tunnel, but the stronger W series of "supra" boxes need a larger tunnel (and special bell housing). Plus you can make different spec's of engine. i.e. 20 valve silver or black top in turbo/super charged or natural aspirated. Even get a 7A bottom end built to go on the 1600 head (any 4AG head will fit with some mod's), when these are turbo'd the results appear to be astonishing.

The reason I chose this engine, is it's different (dont ask I haven't even started mine). How many CA 1200's are there? Freakin heaps, and with good reason to, it's a bloody effective conversion! For simplicity you cant beat a CA. It has all been done before and there should be no surprises in the conversion.

Either will make you car extremely competent on the streets or strip, just do what you prefer.

I had custom hubs made. have a look at my album. There are probably easier ways to do it. But that's how I have.
Cheers

Hello,
I had a look over your site at the different work you do. Perhaps you could list some 1200 specific work that you have done in the past. i.e. the front chassie work you did on the acid ute is something that is going to become more common as our cars get older. Even if you could give an indication of the cost involved. Mine doesn't appear to be as bad as that one, but the front cross member (under radiator) has a couple of rust holes, so there is probably more damage waiting to be discovered. Also some corrosion around the front bumper mounts, also seems common.

I was looking to get someone to shorten a VN B/W diff and depending on the cost, having the rear leaves in my ute shifted in. Is this something you could undertake?

Thanks

I put new bearings and seals on my 120y struts the other month. Pull the old ones out, they have the part number on the sides of them. At least if you physically get the number off the current ones you are going to get the correct ones!!

They are sold as a cup and cone together. As they are small and therefore are cheap, and my local bearing place had them instock so they must be common.

Nice job Frank, was it hard to line up the new panels before you welded them on? I'm fitting new panels and I'm worried they wont be perfect. I.E. the rear quarters not lining up with the doors and then the fronts not lining up with the doors.

Also if you don't mind me saying. In that last picture, do you think it would look better with no tint. To me it makes the whole car look to dark. But hey you do live in TVE!

Keep it going!

Well I should have my Haltech E8 in the next day or so for the car, so I'm wondering where most people mount the ECU in the cab? I was thinking around the glove box on the passanger side or perhaps if I got some new kick panels off "fly" I could mount it behind there on the passanger side.

Any thoughts?
