Its a trailer car mate, and I cant afford a garage to keep it in up there... (also after somewhere to live, ideally a granny flat, garage with shower or similar, if anyone up that way can think of anything Long story is that I am going to Uni then hopefully Europe for a few years. The ute is the only thing that I'm keeping really. It will be staying with family. Ah I miss the forums, so many like minded datto people...

clyons: Nice to know I'm missed. Will be studying photography and you can only do that in brissy, wagga or melbourne, so brissy was my choice... looking forward to the change though.
Unfamilia: Yes, we have met on here I'm sure. Thank you muchly, thats the good info I need... those are the things that I'm most concerned with.

she is already up on blocks, its more the questions like should I run an oily mix of fuel (as they say to do with other engines)...
Perthute, If I could afford that I would, but I'm going to be the cheapest ass person ever I think... maybe we could come to a deal, free storage, for a drive every now and then... lol
EDIT: the shed will be partitioned off just for the ute so there will be no movement of it, and I Will be in brissy so wont get to do anything to it for months on end, maybe see it each year

Hey all, man its changed around here since last I was here...
I've had a drastic change in direction in life (moving to brissy for Uni) and now my baby needs to go into long term storage, a minimum of 3 years. Its mainly the engine that I'm concerned with, but any thoughts are good...

Yep I've done that plenty of times... wish I had that many spare parts laying around... The oil cooling is pretty common, first time I saw it was about 5 years ago, though I cant find that pic any more the guy used transformer oil and it was green, this one uses Mineral oil Pure h2o doesn't conduct electricity either, its the dirt and impurity's in it that allow it to conduct.

All of the following is taken from various sections of the ABC Science website. Sorry to just copy and past slabs of text, but I think its all relevant... The story so farRunning a car on hydrogen and oxygen is viable, however with current technology it takes more energy to split the water back into hydrogen and oxygen than the useful energy you get out. Fine if you have huge banks of solar photovoltaic cells, and lots of water, but it does involve significant capital costs. Also, storing the hydrogen and oxygen is complex and/or expensive. Used in West OzHydrogen cars are used in various parts of the world. In West Australia they are trialling buses with big hydrogen tanks. One of the problems is that you need the infrastructure in place, such as hydrogen fuelling stations, or technology to convert hydrogen from the air. New DevelopmentResearchers have split water into hydrogen and oxygen by replicating how plants use photosynthesis to make carbohydrates. The team of Australian and US researchers says their findings, could lead to a cheap and easy way of making hydrogen, which many experts believe is the green fuel of the future. There is a heap more on there if anyone has the time to read it all...

Hey all,
I dont really want to get to much into this discussion except to say that; Yes Hydrogen burns and can be used as fuel however it takes more electricity to convert water into hydrogen than it produces, therefor isn't a viable fuel.
I'm not sure if this is because our current technology isnt efficient enough or if its a scientific fact that you cant do it efficiently.
However, if you were to convert the water at home, then use it in the car it COULD work out cheaper than paying for petrol, but then you run into the problem of transporting it.
If you really have any queries you should call triple J on Thursdays and talk to Dr Karl as the Hydrogen Fuel Cell question is quite a regular one.

Hey perthute, sorry for not replying to your last comment till now... I would love the bonnet but following a few unfortunate events I've had a bit of a whole life change, so cant afford to spend anything on the ute. Hopefully I will get into Uni and as such the ute and the rest of my life will be going into storage for the next 4 years...
