Hello,

Just asking for advice and maybe some help as my ute wont start, (A12) for the past few weeks in hard trouble turning over, then it just stopped. couldnt even roll start it, checked the battery with the mulimeter and it was all fine. now we did some tests on the starter motor (as in manual) and it we believe it was this, so we changed this over with a reco, and it still wont start.

now - any other suggestions, or should i just get (a) mechanic, OR (B) auto elec out.

Have you followed through the troubleshooting section of your workshop manual? It could save you a lot of time & a few dollars.

check your timing, spark plugs and your dizzy points

check out that little white fuseable link or whatever it is. i dont know what its called so excuse my poor descriptive words. its about 10cm long and 2cm wide and has some wires connecting to it at either end. also check for loose wires anywhere around where you may have cleaned or repaired under the engine bay recently. The car has a kill switch installed. But i dont think that is playing up. but its a possibility. I have looked at all the wires under the ignition, and there is ALOT of cut wires etc. possibly from older stereo installs in not sure.

think ill just have to get someone to come out n have a look. Do you guys recon a mechanic or an auto elec?

Would first determine if you have spark at the plugs.. pull off a ht lead and put in a good spark plug, earth the plug against the motor, while getting somone to crank it over for you. if no spark, would check power across coil, then work back from there.
