g'day guys

i was just wondering if any of you could help me out. i'm just about to pick up an a12 (long story attached as i'm downgrading from an a15 to rally it), and was wondering if the a15 internals will fit into the a12 block?? is there enough clearance for the crank, wall thickness in the bores, etc???

thanks alot

stu

Unlikely. But an A14 crankshaft can be modified to fit an A12 block. See Dodgeman's A14 crank for A12 block.

As Ddgonzal mentioned, i am slowly assembling a 1200 engine with other 'A' series internals to convert my engine from 1171cc out to 1434cc. That's a 23% boost in capacity using stock Datsun parts.

The main ingredients for this cocktail involve the A14 crank, A15 pistons, & a set of rods from an A12a. The rods are the hardest part to get & you could bore the small end of the A12 rods to allow the wrist pin of the A15 piston to fit, but i prefered not to do this & i have sourced some rods from the US. These rods are the same length as the 1200 /A12 rods, but come with the little end factory-made for the larger pin.
I bored the little end of my 1200 rods twenty years ago when i used A14 pistons in this engine, with the 1200 crank. They have lasted two full service lives, & will be reused in another engine for my son's 120Y, but i didn't want to use them in this version of my engine.

All the rest of my engine is 1200GX stuff
