Hi All,

I am in the process of replacing my mechanical fuel pump for an electric due to the old one dying (Well, maybe)

I have hooked everything up where it is supposed to go but it wouldn't prime.

Undid the the fuel line from the tank and tried to suck some fuel through it and it is blocked. Nothing comes out and I have tried to blow air through and nothing goes in.

I've got a 1985 model and I can't see any difference between the tank in the car and the picture attached taken from here.

Can anyone give me some advice?

I would start by disconnecting all the rubber hoses from the fuel/feed line tank end and engine end and just try forcing air through the metal line. Seem as though its such a short line you could also poke sime thin wire through it or force some fluid through like brake cleaner. While your at it do the return line.

Thanks for that... I had tried earlier with the compressor to blow the pipe out but had no success... Turned it up to 150psi and it seem to work, but very slowly. Took about 5 minutes of blowing air through until it finally came good. Sounds like I need to clean the tank out very soon!

Yeah for the sake of it id remove the lines and give them a good visual could be kinked/squashed somewhere or split and the air is escaping somewhere. Ive had a similar problem and my only option was to feed some thin fencing wire down the line. At the end of the day fuel line isnt that dear and you can use your old fuel line as a template to bend up another one with a cheap ebay hand held pipe bender. Ebay also sells rolls of fuel line pretty reasonably priced.
