Both Boof & B210 sleeper are right.
Get your car to ride, handle & stop right, for relatively little money, & you will be able to extract every bit of performance the engine can provide.

You will be amazed how hard a little Datsun with the right suspension & brake upgrades is to catch in the twisties with even a modest A series engine.
Pep the little feller up with a nicely warmed A15 & dogleg five speed, & your mate in that inferior car will think you are Mario Andretti.

SR cost, at least $10K maybe a lot more.
A15 cost, buying an engine someone else has already worked up $3K, do it your self $5K+

Modding cars is not cheap, and the less work you do yourself the more expensive it gets.

It's very non Datsun to say but if you want a real fast car cheap, Jap import Nissans are probably the best way to go. Silvia, Skyline.

dude stay with the a a15 ,turbo it and fully work it. to get someone to do that it would set you back 5 to 6 grand with someone who know what they are doing and also it is amazing how much money people will drop off the price just so they can put a sticker on the back of the window of there buissness

i guess not the Vt alone is what i set out to beat but a major goal yes, it is just the standard 3.8 atm but will most probably b supercharged aswell so what would keep up? and to boofhead yes i have seen quite a few good deals pop up, and the A series does sound like the sensible choice but i just cant help but want the sr

I blow of V8 commodores (not Clubsport etc) in my 1000 with a worked A15, your mates stock 3.8 wouldnt even get a look in.

The CA18 turbo cars on this site are some of the quickest road cars around but at the end of the day there is always going to be a car that is quicker than yours so dont let it get to you.

How can people only get 100 hp or 120 hp with a turbo out of thier A15's? I live in canada and me and my mechanics teacher both have 1970 datsun 1000's with a15's. I ordered some racing engine parts from japan like 1.6L pistons, big valves, Race Crankshaft and had my engine bored and polished, put a header on, put in a 300 degree nismo cam, and have twin weber dcoe's. Me and my teacher got our cars dyno'd and my teachers car had about 112 hp and my car had over 150 hp. We must be doing somethin right. I have put about 3+ k into my engine.
