Some of you might remember about 30 days ago I mentioned: Quote:
My current 1200 has several things needing work, including a few I'm not sure how to fix (slight surge when cold, odd bouncing problem at low speed, etc)
It turns out both problems had the same cause! I figured the bouncing was due to bad shocks. But when I took the wheel cover off, the wheel nuts on one side were on backwards, so that the wheel was not centered!
Putting the lugnuts back on the correct way has solved these three problems:
- bouncing at rear, felt mostly when driving slowly
- slight surge when driving slowly for example steady at 15mph/20kph. The wheel was actually causing the engine to speed up and down enough to notice! It also caused the gears to whine. Now it is smooth and quiet.
- driveline vibration at +60mpg (100kph). I figured for sure it was a bad u-joint, but it was not!
