How about this for a new thread,
anyone who knows a trick or cheap improvement for a Datsun put it in this thread , it could be for engine , interior , suspension or whatever . Anything you can think of that could help out another Datto driver , but nothing expensive. You never know we may all learn something !!!

I'll start . I found out today that when you fit 120Y disc's on the front the caliper sticks out past the bolt up section so you need to use spacers with some mags ( no one told me this )

And 75 model 120Y front springs are the about 2" taller than some later models ( also found this out today )

To Magnetise a screwdriver (if ever you drop that bolt and it just out of reach) just wrap a coil of wire around the shaft, the more coils the better, then tap (thats TAP) the ends of the wire across the terminals of a car battery. Done

Heres one,
might seem funny, but works.

Ok, one my older cars I owned had a major diff wind, this was sure to be replaced, however, money was really tight that month, so I had to use it as is for a while.
Yes, checked and renewed new diff oil, but no help with the windy noise.

Few people{mechanics} told that I should shove some green Bananas in the diff, Yeh Bananas with the peels, so I said, what the heck, what worse can go wrong with a f@cked up diff anyhow.
I did as recommended, and WALLAH, windy noises gone, ran the car, no hassles.
In fact the diff didnt even give in before putting in the new one.

on a stock carb you can change the secondaries from vacuum to mechanical.
On the side of the carb the throttle cable clips into a little channel. On the same piece of metal but above is a lond curved slot.about halfway along this slot drill a hole above and below( about 2mm either side)Then thread a small piece of wire through the holes and tie apon itself. So that when you press the throttle the secondary throttle lever is actuated by this piece of wire.
Costs no money.
easy to do.
Hope this makes some sense.
Andy

Inspired by the TV series, MacGUYVER..

PROBLEM:
a small leak in your radiator or core section?
Afraid of drivng it to the Auto spares Shop, cause youre to afraid of it overheating and blowing the H\gasket.

SOLUTION: {temporary}
Whilst motors hot and running, fill her up with water, duh,
then,
get an egg or two,
crack open into the radiator,
rev the motor a little,
the egg get to those holes, becoming like rubber, and seals.

Trust me, this works, I've tried it.
