New member here, in the US. Need advice on putting an L20b under the bonnet of my '72 B210 wagon.
Love this site, wish we had ute's here in the USA! Thanks in advance!

I did a bit of asking around on L series X members, as I am soon fitting a L20 into a 310. The story I was told is that a 180B Xmember will bolt straight up to 210 chassis. You may find that you encounter some clearance issues with the air cleaner on the bonnet, if you have a down draft carb set up. If this is the case, you can use sidedrafts, or recess the X member to lower the motor. I think that Teamdat, (or someone like that) has just done something similar to a 210.

I looked at doing that to my 1200 but was told that i would have to attack the tunnel with a hammer to clear the gear box .un less you had an auto in your car already

my 1200 ute is just days from completion...
running the L20b in it now. The original tunnel i found to consist of large portions of fibreglass after someone decided to remove the original gearbox mounts in a rather nasty way... so i chopped the whole thing out, and put one in that i chopped out of a 200b... it is about twice the size... fits quite nice tho other than that, you have to look at cross members, pack the swaybar out by about 10mm, replace fan with an electric one, and source a new radiator... I'm not too sure about what you'll have to do to get it into a 120y, have a talk to team_dat... he is doing the L18 conversion...

Thank you for the replies, they are a great help. What was the US model for the 180b? Any ideas how difficult it might be to convert my lefty to a RHD?
Thanks again!

yeah team_dat is having a few headaches for a "bolt in" conversion...
the radiator needs moving/re-mounting and the cowling needs to be cut out now as well...

Is that why his signature now reads "bolt in means no angel grinding" Or something like that?
It's real good when poeple are up front with what a conversion really entails. I've heard horror stories about people who have been told " yeah, yeah it's really easy". From someone on the net, only to find out what they are trying to do is near impossilbe with the resouses that they have. Thats why this site is so good.

I think I'll just find another 1200... Are there interior kits available or, atl east, seat upholstery kits?
Thanks.

yes when using nissans ingeniouse front mount holes for te Lseries they forgot to take the cowling into account and also the fact the gearstick selector is 2 inches behind the gearstick hole in the tunnel and little things like that, more cutting than i would have hoped for.

LOL and the fact that you have to grind about 3inches off the 180B crossmember to clear the castor arms mounts.
