#1 WHILE LOOKING FOR A HONEYBEE, I FOUND A 1978 LAUREL 200L

Hi guys. What do you know about the 1978 Datsun Laurel 200L?

I found one legally registered in the States. It's an Australian model; right hand drive with 59k original miles.

Looks like the car in the link:

It's so unsexy for a datsun.

I can't quite put it in to words, maybe a picture is worth a bunch of my crude ramblings....

It's like the car you get if your family knew someone powerful in russia. It looks like it came with a ballistic armor package.

looks like a larger brother to the late model (4 cylinder) 810 known here as a 200B

EDIT: I wonder if anyone went to the trouble of exporting a a japanese or Aussie spec (B210) 120Y to the states...

put the best bits out of the (LB210) B-210

IE heavier duty suspension, A14, etc..

and fun, fun, fun!!!

in other words stuck with the 120Y/B210/B-210

That bit about knowing someone powerful in Russia has me laughing out loud! You're spot on.

BTW, can you please show me how to put pics right in the post like you did. So far, I've been unsuccessful.

Now THAT would be a great find! I'd like to get one just to have those tin foil dinner-plate hubcaps...

it was only the early 120Y's that had the stainless steel hubcaps!...

late model 120Y's had plastic ones...

the reason why Japanese, European, South American, and of couse, Australian, B210's were called 120Y's is because they had/have A12's, - 1171cc capacity - 69 sheer stump pulling horsepower 120Y 2 door sedans are VERY rare here...

B-210's have 77 Horsepower... as they have an A14... but those horrid bumpers

hey my 120Y's go hard enough with highly thrashed A12's... I had the (now partially) gold 120Y up to 105 Km/h the other day... thats 72 MPH!...

thats not one of my 120Y's as it Is a LB210 (LHD) 2 door sedan

Now can someone take this image in a photo editing program, add some nice big wheels under it, say 16x7" front & 18x8-1/2" rear, then give it some attitude by dumping the front a little, &, if necessary to gain clearance, raising the rear just a whisker.
Colour it Silver/Gray, maybe with a black vinyl top. Give it a plate that reads 'THE DON'

Does it look like a Sicilian Mafia Staff car now?

if you look on the compliance plate of your 120Y you'll see it says B210, they're the same.

and 2-door sedans arent that rare, easier to find than 2-door wagons

yeah I know

both my japanese manufactured 120Y's have B210XXXXXX stamped on the firewall

as well as B210 on the compliance plates...

ah the 120Y panelvan/2 door stationwagon... Drool..
