The H165 diff, weaker than the H150???
Who told you such a load of old rubbish? If the H165 was weaker, then why would it be used under the heavier cars, like 1600 & 180B wagons along with some 200B sedans & wagons, as well as the series 1 & 2 Bluebirds. The H165 rear end was used under the 1200 ute because this vehicle was the load carrier of the 1200 range, & was expected to place more load on this part than the passenger models ever would. If the H150 was stronger, then it would be a simple matter to slip the 120Y rear end [H150] under the ute during production from 1974 onwards as this rear end was in production from then. Here's the breakdown H= Nissanspeak for differential xxx [three digit number]= is the nominal diameter of the ring gear in mm. Bigger is stronger, ... & heavier.

There are two types of diff fitted to a 120y, a H150 and a Borg Warner diff.

For $50 I can sell you a good H150 centre thats not locked, that would be easier to put in for you.

Sidedraught I think he is saying he wants the 165 because it is locked.
But its still worthwhile to buy Sidedraught's 150 and have it welded up. That way there is still a normal 150 for when you get sick of the locked diff.

Ah ha the old wants a locked diff caper, yes buy mine weld it up, then in a week when you have decided you would rather walk up to the shops than drive that pig of a thing with its f@ckin locked diff, you can put your old one back in.
