upgrade brakes

ive been thinking is it possible to use the s14 brakes (disk and caliper) instead of using the silvia setup on the 120y struts. the advantage would be bigger brakes and 5 stud conversion. i dont see why it wouldnt fit as its a common upgrade on silvias

because 5 stud conversion is illegal usually on 4 studed cars.
4 stud conversion looks more stock too

engenieered does not make it necessiarily legal.
every state is different but must meet australian adrs. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/CC48FC10-4D57-4F04-82E1-3BD72EF88340/0/VSI8.pdf adrs if heating, grinding or bending to be done its a no no.

i cudnt see a reason to want 5 stud hubs on a 1200 anyway, no good small wheels come in five stud. And if they do they would likely be horrible offset. The bigger brakes are good yes but if you get the rotors and calipers of a type x 180 then you get bigger brakes and 4 stud anyway. You would need some heafty power and weight to actually need to have bigger brakes than that. Dont underestimate the lightness of a 1200. Anything bigger on a mild 1200 is just wank value if you ask me.

I partially disagree with that statement. Would you consider Ford 14x7's bathurst wheels small? I had a set that I was going to use but "apparently" no engineer I talked to in town wanted to poke some extra holes in them for me.
That got me looking through here to see the ford EA falcon or whatever it was hub conversion, not a bad set of brakes where you could also find slotted rotors for no doubt and the ability to use 114.3 five stud wheels. Unfortunately for the wheels I sold them to a friend who hasn't used them yet cos I couldn't find the wheelnuts You can view topic.
