handbrake cable

hey all. was working on m datto again tonight and was trying to sort out the handbrake cable. has anyone hooked up and wokred out a way to get it working using a r31 diff and standard 1200 sedan handbrake?

hey champ ............its like getting blood out of a rock on this alway asked question, do a search throurgh "wiki" theres sum pic's that give ya sum idea.....
how far off are you in getting the cables made....as i also have a R31 diff in my ute i have a mate that makes all types of cables in dubbo nsw, soon as i have my ute rolling im take it there (next mth sumtime), he hasn't given me a quote asyet it will be mates rates......plus more that he does the cheaper it be......

not sure on the cables but i know that it is easier to set up with the calipers at the front of the disc rather that the back. apparently u can swap the backing plates over and do it easily. hope this helps a little.

yes better if calipers are on up front, plus cant just swap brake brackets over just like that,.... the bolts are offset,
the diff housing need to be cut'n'turn then sleved and welded up, and to get it true its gotta be spot on square or in time you will go through bearing like no 2moro!.....goodluck

only advantage of having the caliper at the front is that you can run the handbrake cables along the back of the diff a bit easier as the cables dont need such a large bend in them
and yeah the diff needs to be set up like that when its shortened as you cant just turn the caliper brackets around to where you want them
