I've had enough of this queer-splined steering shaft in the ute.

How hard would it be to pull the shaft out of my wagon and put it in the ute?

Or will the whole column have to be unbolted from the steering box and firewall on both cars and just swap the whole lot?

The wagon doesn't have a steering lock-type ignition switch, and I don't really feel like drilling the heads of the snaphead bolts out of the ute one to put it on the wagon column.
