what size wheels are people using for a 71 1200 coupe ?
will 13 x 6 15 deg. off set. fit with out rubbing ?recomended tire size ?

i am in the same boat .. I want to up grade so I would like to know what you guys are using that won't interfere with the sheet metal and need a brake upgrade.

I have my fenders flared to hell in the front but with the spacer my front wheel is 13x6 -16. Make the car fit the wheel. I just used a fender roller till it didn't touch the fender anymore. I dont know about stock suspension but i was coming super close to rubbing the strut with 205's in the front so i added the 10 mil spacer. 185's cleared everything just fine.

is it -15 offset or +15?
either way you should be fine

+15 would put the wheel half way inside my coilover! hahha. The wheels are 13x6 -6 but i had to add a 10 mm spacer to clear the strut.




Rears are 13x6 -8 205's all the way around.

Both front and rear fenders have been rolled/pulled quite a bit.

And if you used 185 60 or 175 70 Tyres you wouldn't need spacers

Right but it would still require fenders to be rolled unless you are stock ride height. I really didn't want to run 205's up front but 185's were on back order and I needed it rolling. even with 185's though the tire come super close to the strut. Under hard cornering it probably would have touched.

I just got my fender flares today so Ill probably do a 20-25mm spacer all the way around and keep the 205's. I kinda dig how meaty they look on this tiny car.

I run 13x6 +15 with 185/60's, only thing I had to do was a very slight grind of the caliper bridge when using new pads but that is a rim design issue.

If the tyre clears the strut at standstill it should never rub during cornering! All the flex is where the tyre meets the road, not at the top where there isn't any load unless you are running completely wrong tyre pressures.

True that. If I cant fit a finger between the tire and the strut it just makes me nervous. lol.
