Coil Problems - Help Needed

Hi Everyone,
Whilst I was trying to get my A series to start on the weekend after having the carbies and manifold off I managed to expode and melt the ignition coil. I have a modified N12 pulsar distributor and was running a MSD Blaster 2 coil. I had a spare Pulsar Coil which i put on and used to get the motor going. When i rev the motor it now takes a while for the revs to drop back to idle. ie. It revs up quickly and normally hoever takes 3 times as long for the revs to drop off back to idle. I have checked the carbies - twin 40 dellortos - and they seem to be functioning as they should - (i am no carbie expert so any advice to check things is welcome) Could the coil have something to do with the problem? Thanks.

Checked the return springs on the carbies?, and the accelerator cable itself?.

I needed to fit up 2 very heavy duty external return springs on the throttle links for them to return quickly, have not had any problems since doing it either. If needed i can stick a pic up of where to hook them up

Thanks for the info.
Both return springs are in good working condition - i dont think that is the problem. Put up a pic anyway. It would probably be a good thing to make them better as they getting a fair bit of abuse !!

On the other topic the coil you were using was probably too low on the primary impedance being the reason it blew up. Needs to match the rest of the set up. Low impedance coils are only good if you can adjust the dwell V rpm and volts.
