I have just bought a new internally regulated 35amp alternator to replace my old one with the external voltage regulator in my JDM 1976 B211 with an automatic choke. I have read the detailed information in the tech wiki and am still worried about which jumpers go where on my block with 6 pins. Electrics simply scare me so any clear advice based on the attached pic would be most welcome. Sorry if I'm rehashing old ground.

IR Alternator Conversion Wiring

In the conversion:
* jumper connects Y to W
* jumper connects WB (white/black) to WR (white/red)

This is for the Hitach LR-135 or Mitsubishi A1T22971. Other internally regulated 35amp alternators are wired differently

By the way, the wires colors listed in your photo are the same as B110 wire colors

I thought I would send pics of the old alternator for reference as I have had some problems. One of the jumpers (yellow to white)has drained my battery. I suspected something when connecting them made a clear relay click when the engine was not running. I'm guessing that the automatic choke heater has been running full time. When I tried to jump start it this morning it wouldn't even turn over until I removed that jumper. Running fine now but I suspect that the choke isn't working which will hurt when winter kicks in.

Any advice?

Yes, that's a Hitachi LT135, Nissan part number 23100-U0102

Which is the new alternator you're replacing it with?

The L terminal goes to the dash Lamp. It can be wired directly via a new wire, or using the existing harness

The F wire (colour WB) goes up to the Voltage Regulator connector. There it may be jumpered to the Lamp wire (colour WR)

The other terminal on the alternator is the S wire. It is meant to be connected to BATTERY +. Preferably via a wire the same length as the BAT feed wire (thick W wire), but can also be jumpered to the B terminal on the alternator (that's how most tractors are wired)

Does your car have 4-terminal choke relay or a 6-terminal version? Probably located behind the coil on the right strut tower (under the larger box)

6-terminal is used with BRAKE warning lamp -- though many B210 have only a blank spot for this

At the Voltage Regulator connector, White is the Battery Sense wire. Yellow goes to the T-connector head terminal (which feeds S terminal of the Mitsubishi alternator)

Which also feed the Choke Relay. Let me think about how to solve the problem ...
