can anyone tell me if the 5 speed gearbox from a B310 model will fit a B110 and what mods are needed? (the box is the
dog-leg shift pattern) Thanks.

Uhm, Here in the US, the 310 is front wheel drive.. That'd take quite a
few mods.. ;)

Don't quote me cause without model numbers etc I could be wrong, but the dogleg 5 speed should be the same length overall as the 4 speed. So your driveshaft won't need altering. But the
input spline may be larger in Dia and will need a clutch plate from an L series engined car like a 1600.which I think has a similar dia clutch plate, or if they are available in the UK use the FWD Pulsar 1.5 EXA Turbo clutch and pressure plate for a bulletproof set up. The only problem you may experience is the reversing light switch hitting the tunnel, a good whack with a hammer should fix that. The crossmember is easily fabricated though Nissan years ago listed one in their Motorsports manual it would be hard to find one. Various 1200 models came equipped with the 5 speeds factory so it's a fairly straight forward job.

The Pulsar EXA wasn't sold here in the UK (although there are a few here) but if the EXA has the E15ET then it would be the same a an N12 Cherry Turbo. BTW if you need a
5speed I know somebody that has a couple of brand new ones.

When I put the dog-leg 5-speed into my 1200, I had to get a driveshaft from an automatic tranny.
The drive shaft splines on the dog-leg 5-speed is the same as an automatic tranny if you can find one. Unlike most driveshafts that have replacable U-joints and therefore the front yoke is replacable, the 1200 U-joints are not replacable, they are welded. The dog-leg 5-speed is a heavy duty trans and produces more friction and uses more of your horsepower that the regular 5-speed or 4-speed, although the most think the tranny is worth it. You get nothing for free, you have to trade HP for better reliability. I think the 4-speed was very reliable. I put over 200,000 miles on mine and never had any problems. I still have the 4-speed if anyone needs it. I also have a 4-speed with fewer miles on it.

Helo Eddie,
I assume you mean Will that has the new box. Thats where it started!! Do you know anyone with a "normal" pattern 5 speed box for sale? See you at Billing. Mike Chorlton.

What year is the B310? The '79 to '81 B310 is called a "Datsun 210" in North America. They are RWD. I have an '81 'B310' RWD 5spd in my 1200. The rear trans. mount had to
be changed. I actually used a rear mount off an auto model & reversed it fora good fit. I also needed the auto driveshaft, which was the correct length. Hope this helps.

Mike,
Aren't all the normal shift pattern boxes longer, though? I use the dogleg box in my other Datsuns an really like it now I'm used to it. Are you still looking for sill trims? Eddie.
