.. and in the current condition it's great for a boat anchor.
The engine is good because it may have some good parts. But it may require another $2000 to get it running. Wrecked pistons normally means wrecked bearings, wrecked bores (probably overbored already), possibly wrecked crankshaft, possibly burnt out valves, possibly warped head. So the engine is good for the price of the webers (possibly in need of a rebuild) and maybe the camshaft and maybe the waterpump. The rest might need replacing, is this a fair statement? I think that if you want to boost the price above that of webers+manifold and a second hand camshaft, then you need to do some harder selling. If I was in the market for an ex-race engine, I'd like to see and bore-endoscope report, compression test and X-Rays of the rods and crankshafts, before I'd be willing to offer too much more. I'm a CA18 person, so I've seen too many "blown" engines from Japan, turn into "budget blowouts" for other people. Good luck in selling. If it was mostly good, it may well be worth up to $1500. I'd get the engine rebuilt to running condition before selling. But with 90% of Datto owners being low on funds, it might still be hard to sell. Good Luck, Chris ps. I'm not trying to be a pain in the behind, just giving my humble opinion, to hopefully help you sell it for a good price.

Well said datodude! i had the exact same thoughts, i don't mean to be disrepectful but the reality of it is that you don't know how much damage is done until you strip the motor down and have a look, it could cost another$2000 to get it running and then again, it might not. Its not a chance i'm prepared to take, i would be keen on the dellortos if you're willing to seperate them.
how much work has been done to it? let us know what you want to do. SORRY TODDAT! NO HARD FEELINGS, EH?! You can view topic.
