Dave (ddgonzal), looks like you beat me to it. @ least my post has the phone number.
I'll bet there are lots of 1200's in the Vancouver area. British Columbia had a huge Datsun following from the late 60's to the early 80's. With the mild climate & short driving distances lots of survivors should still be around.

Probably are a few in BC, I've heard one one or two just on the Island. There's at least a couple of Datsun 1000s left, as recent ads show. Then there was the 1200 in the Vancouver wrecking yard a couple of years ago. And rumours of a guy that has "dozens" of 1200s, but I reckon that means 1200 roadsters.

West Coast has more old cars that East Coast. Most likely because they don't salt the roads out west here.

But Vancouver, and Victoria are on the salt water, that's hard on cars.

I've only ever seen two 1200's on the island and they're both now in my backyard. Came from Victoria too! And they show it..

When you say your Victoria cars show it, are they quite rusty? I always remember how kind Victoria is to vehicles. Half the rainfall of Vancouver & Seattle, rarely snow & very few frosts. The road crews rarely have to salt the roads in winter either. If I recall correctly, though next to the ocean, Victoria also generally lower humidity than most of the surrounding areas. Giving the salt air less chance to attack cars.
I grew up in Powell River BC. Just up the coast from Vancouver. (a little more rain & more humid than Victoria). I had to wash & wax mom's new '73 1200 sedan. That car was babied. Even so after about 7 years the rust started to show on the rocker panels. I think in the case of the 1200, like all cars if that era, rust proofing had a low priority. As much as I love the Datsun 1200, it would be fair to say that though strong & a neat style. The bodies were built with economy in mind, not longevity. It's too bad there bodies weren't as durable as their electrical & powertrain.
I think it's great that the hundreds of people from all walks of life & around the world, are envolved in this web site and committed to keeping Datsun 1200's on the road for many years to come.

Yes, rust is bad. The humidity is high, but there is less rain than some other areas.

DaveB, that phone number is Vancouver. I called but it appears the number has changed owners (they said I had a wrong number). You might wish to Edit the original post and remove the number.
