I have a 1971 Datsun 1200 two door sedan, It is in mechanicaly great condition, brakes have just been done new tires, new head on motor, new radator, in fact almost everything has been replaced in drive train and suspension, inside is ok seats need to be redone, headliner good door panels good, exterior dent on drivers side door, stock color of green all chrome and badges intact. What is this auto worth? I am going to put it up on eBay and need to know were to start. Anyone can you help. I am not real good at Datsuns, I grew up on 57 Chevy's (I am 53) It has always been in California so no rust it is a three owner car, has all the papers from original buyer, along with all the maintain records and the work done on record, I am trying to get an Idea what is worth to sell it

Except for a few guys on this forum, most people are looking for Coupes here in the U.S. Exterior condition is probably the most important, that and location. If you were in Florida, you'd probably get more, as they are scarcer, and the drag racing crowd, who seem to like the 2drs, are in abundance.

Realistically, in the USA I think a sedan with a dent or two is worth $500-$1500.

The only known sedan buyers were 'no' and myself. And I already bought one. No has two of them. Syl wasn't able to sell his ... as far as I heard. Then Gary from Portland came along and bought the Tacoma car for around $600. It sounds like the car here is in better shape than the Tacoma car.

But there are other buyers out there. People looking for an "economy car" will pay up to a $1000 for a good runner, doesn't matter what brand or model.

Btw, the 2-dr sedan has a regular trunk. The Coupe has a little trunk lid that opens into the interior of the car.

Coupe (fastback) prices are the same I think. There is more demand for them, but there are also more coupes available. So supply and demand even out somewhat. The good news is that it should be easier to find a buyer for a coupe.

When we start talking about superb-condition cars (nice paint, perfect interior, no dents, etc etc), then the price goes way up. People are asking about 3500-5000 for extremely nice ones. I haven't heard that any actually sold at this price in USA, but that's what they were asking.

Thanks again for the info, I think what I will do is get the dent removed and repair the seats then the vehicle is in abiut new condition, I have the receipts for almost 2500.00 worth of recent engine, and brake and suspension work, so the little out lay for the ext and int may make it worth a lot more we will see. It si fun to drive and runs nice. But is just a little small for my taste
