Just a bit of an update. I ended up going with the angle grinder and a knotted wire wheel for stripping the wheel arches and underbody. Found some rust under the drivers side wheel arch where the firewall and wheel arch meet. Damn. Going to be a bugger to fix. Stripped all major areas underneath and while I was at it stripped the engine bay. Now I just need to get all the hard to reach areas with paint stripper and then spray in epoxy primer. Rust spot will then be repaired and new chassis beam and radiator support welded on.

Thanks
Trav

Hey Trav good to see the 1200 underway. bugger with the rust but not to bad considering the age of the beast. i just re did my wheel arches after installing a series 2 bluebird diff center last month and they are all clean and rust free. since my paint work was done 8 years ago i still don't have a spec of rust! and counting.

Keep the updates coming mate..

Wow 8 years D. How time flies. Good to hear you still have the ute. Yeah i just found another litlle bit of rust tonight. Its all because of the clogged up water box on the drivers side. It seems they are only small spots and hasnt caused too much structural damage inside the water box itself. We shall see when i start cutting it all out.

Thanks
Trav
