#1 Timmy's 1200 Coupe
xaymaca Posted on: 2011/3/27 4:38
Well, I was looking for a runabout car while my Nissan Patrol is getting the engine fixed up and this little number came up well within my budget. The guy who I bought it off, got it off his grandmother who purchased it from new. Still has original number plates and all! Not sure what plans are with it for now. Completely stock a12 with 3spd auto. Needed new tyres so I bought some R31 steel wheels and new continental tyres. Added some chrome dress rings for some spice. I think I will be looking to replace the carpet as a first mission.

They are a good looking car the 1200 coupe and it sounds like you've got yourself a real gem.

I put new carpet in the Coupe today! Thought I would show you some progress pics :)

-1st pic - original carpet crossed with some marine looking carpet on the driver's floor
-2nd pic - carpet all pulled out and the old insulation
-3rd pic - inside of the car straight after I took the carpet out and hadn't swept it out. Found so much money!!!!
-4th pic - underfelt all cut out and installed - starting to look like something
-5th pic - the new moulded carpet ready for install - note that it isn't laid out the way it fits in the car
-6th pic - back piece of moulded carpet fitted

-1st pic - both pieces installed
-2nd pic - seats all back in :)
-3rd pic - seats back in... but the other side!
-4th pic - my cat making sure everything is going to plan
-5th pic - all the loot I scored - receipts from 1983. Interestingly, found a service ticket from 1983 (same as service stickers that go on windows) showing it coming up to 50000mile service. Also found $1.46 is cash money!
-6th pic - new R31 steelies with chrome dress rings and new Continental ContiEcoContact 185/60/14's

Sorry forgot to mention the important parts!!!!

The carpet was bought from Knox Auto Carpets (just near me) for $150 - it is the plush pile, not the loop pile. Can be bought from eBay.
I also got 2 rolls of underfelt - they are 1500cmx900cm and I used pretty much both rolls. They were $20 a roll.

Total time was about 3hours or so - fair bit of work making sure everything fit together.

If I did it again, I think I would like to make it fit a bit better - I'm not sure how I would do it, but it would be nice!

Hopefully this convinces some of you folks out there to do this, as I was able to and I'm far from good with the tools!

Top Stuff, I fitted the same carpet and it was a bit tricky.

Wow looks liked you've found a good solid coupe there and auto too! I've been looking for one like that for awhile.
I've bought a couple of those carpets from Knox Auto Carpets over the years as I work just around the corner. Each time I reckon I'll get them fitting just right but seem to stuff up cutting near the sill covers or around the seat mounting posts.
So how did you find this coupe was it advertised?
