i am 16 and got this car off my dad and it has no rust. dont no if i wont it to be fast or stocko wot do u think?

I think you should keep it 100% standard mate! P310s are WAY to rare to basterdise! Find some other little common datto and cut and shut a 351 in it

A really good start would be to return it to a sound mechanical condition first. This will teach you a great deal about cars in general & this one in particular. You never know, you may come to love its character & keep it basically original.

The fact that you want to repower it with something more grunty, yet you make no mention at all of improving the brakes, the suspension or steering & this worries me.

Learn all about it first, then modify it when you have a much better understanding of what you are doing, but knowledge is power & it will be a good idea to gather as much knowledge as possible before launching into an ill advised project.

What condition is this car in? Does it run, does it drive? It sounds like it could be a fun thing to pick up a future girlfriend in. Her dad will see you in a better light if you think twice, act once & get it right the first time.

What u using the dato for? Roadcar?, hotrod?, Racing? My bro had a speedway sedan bluebird shell an reved it up with a modified 1600 from a stanza. That car was deadly.After he rollled it he threw the frame away an sold the engine to some bloke who wanted to put it in his licienced road car!From my experience i gather that the 16s must be the way to go. .......?Or perhaps the bloke was insane!

If you anywhere near Las Vegas NV.....bring it by my house and I send you home with a Honda CRX as that will be much beeter to mod.
Leave the car stock , restore it and enjoy. I've often toyed with hot rodding one of the 59-62 model Datsuns but they really are getting scarce and deserve to be perserved rather than tarted up. Plus if you restore it, you won't drive like the idiot teenager I was.......putting hard work in your car seems to cure thrashing your first car.

if you leave it stock you will most likely get more $$$ for it when you sell it later on. Plus How many of your other mates will have a good looking stock datsun.

Keep it stock as l have done with my 63 bluebird ute. l do have a rare model like yours & have original motor in it. Make the shore the head is in good working order as they can crack the head. Engine parts are not hard to get, but body parts are hard to get. Engine gaskets are advalable at repco australia. Some bluebird have been remotored with a 1300 or 1500 engine which will fitt in with problems. Personal leave it original as possable. Bruns
