Every engine swap/project car write up I have seen on the internet has an entry such as this one...not much progress in the last couple weeks, work and friends has kept me busy. Anyway, I went today to work on the beast and my plan was to get the engine mounts done, but the stall I needed to get into was taken already for nearly all the free time I had. So, I will have to wait again until next Saturday, when I'm going to get there as soon as they open so no one else can take the spot that I need. I have been buying more parts for it though and gotten some accomplishment. The EFI fuel pump (Walbro 255 lph inline) is on it's way as well as the stainless steel turbo outlet pipe/dump pipe and new stainless steel braided lines for the turbo (oil and coolant). I think I'm going to go ahead and buy the Nismo engine and transmission mounts ($200) as the stock ones are very weak and separate easily. I also bought all the steel bar stock for constructing the engine and tranny mounts, so you can't say I haven't done anything!
Oh yeah, I also came to the conclusion that the Greddy intake isn't going to work very well without modification (stock WILL work fine though). So I will be sending it to a friend in Okinawa (thanks Scott @ S-tec!) who is going to cut it back and reweld it so I can use a 90mm/Q45 throttle body!! You can't use the stock 180SX TB on the Greddy intake without mods anyway! I'm also going to send him the water outlet off the engine so he can cut and reweld it so it points 90 degrees straight up instead of straight forward into the radiator. This similar mod can be seen on other Datsun 1200 and 510 SR20 conversions on the internet.
In the mean time since I couldn't work on the Datsun I painted the new rear panel for my 180SX tail light conversion and ordered the final pieces of the "Kouki" or round tail light conversion (1995+ 180SX) for it. I also scored a nice set of S15 Silvia seats that will replace the stock 180SX seats...I'm also going to check out how they might fit into the 1200...if they fit okay then I'm going to be on the lookout for another pair of S15 seats

Well that's it for now...until next weekend!
