No FWD SR20 can be adapted for RWD use. The blocks are different.... and the mounts are different. The best SR20 variant would be the one out of the GTi-R which has stonger blocks big ported head and quad throttle bodies.

well a friend of mine has a fwd SR20DE
that i was planning to get for later in my B310 development so this information is very helpful

so i guess that it would be better to go SR20DE from the silvia one time

Sure it's lots of work, but you can use the fwd sr20de for this challenge of yours. Just have to remount the distributor.

One other problem. No RWD box will bolt up to that motor.

FWD and RWD blocks are NOT the same. The bellhousing bolt pattern on the FWD is smaller in diameter than the RWD. A race shop here that specializes in Nissans spent 2 days in several salvage yards just trying to find a RWD tranny that was even close to bolting up, with zero luck. Then you have to build an intake, run a DIS ignition, etc.

You may like a challenge, but trying this makes you a glutton for punishment, not someone who likes a challenge.

Also, when you compare the $$$ for making the FWD work, you'll spend twice as much as just buying a RWD.

What the......

mate its hard enough trying to fit a rwd sr20 in a 1200.... i know because i have done both ca18det and sr20det conversions..
u will find that there is was too much stuffing around for what u will achieve....

why would u make ur job twice as hard and expensive to end up basically with the same result???

if u shop around u will find a s13 sr20det half cut for $2500

$500- $1000 for a s13 sr20de .

and the last of all s14 sr20det with variable cam timing would be around $800-1500 max...

otherwise ur getting ripped...

these are the prices u will find in aus.... i though it would be heaps cheaper over there... all imports are cheaper ....
