Is this vehicle comming from interstate?
For what it's worth, when I was looking into
interstate compliance, bringing my vehicle from NSW to QLD, I spoke to a guy named Peter Austin at vehicle modifications and he was very very helpful.
I had the previous owner fax me the NSW papers on the car and Peter looked over them for me and gave me over the phone approval (unofficially of course).
When I purchaced the car Peter then allowed me to fax the Modification Application straight to him and he fast tracked it.
I didn't know this guy from a bar of soap - that is how helpful he was.

If not and you're just after a RWC - I used a guy named Glenn McEwan - i'm sorry i can't find his ph. no. but the business is one stop exhaust and service at raceview. basically if it is your car and just want to register it things shouild be ok. but if you were after one to sell on he would take a closer look.
as far as insurance goes i'd find out what the engine really is and tell just car. it shouldn't make a diff to your premium. but might void a claim - so just let them know.
