No need to unlink the chain

With crank sprocket installed, fit the chain around the cam sprocket, then lift both onto the crank sprocket and push cam sprocket into place.

Of course the timing marks on both sprockets need to align as you push it on. That means turning engine to TDC, turning cam to line up.
