Does anyone know if this will be the H165? I am looking at buying a diff to put into my 1200 sedan but just want to check it will be the H165 as the seller isnt sure what diff it has. Chassis is a GB120

Pretty sure all the utes have a H165. The tech wiki on the left has a page that shows you how to identify it to make sure.

H165 has a centre held in with bolts H145 Has centre held in with nuts(studs built in Housing). As lamb said apparently all utes have H165 but I've seen them with H145's among other diffs.

think pre 1974 utes were H145 post 1974 and inclusive were H165

No thats an old tech wiki thing apparently its wrong. The way to tell that i mentioned was the simplest way someone could help me identify the difference. Just passing on another datto owners knowledge.

H150 out of 120Y/B210 also fastens with bolts like the H165, has same number of bolts, and same flange pattern.

All utes came from the factory with H165, even the very first 1971 ute. Some have been replace over time with an H145 coupe diff.

Ahh now im confused again HA HA just kidding. Woudnt they have mounts fixed to diff for shocks like 1200 sedan ? Or Did the 120y/b210 coupe also have h150 and mounts like 1200 coupe and ute ? that bolt to base of leaf spring. Mind you 1200 coupe shock mount is smaller than ute the shock mounts to base plate with like a 12mm nut on ute its more like 14mm or is it 17mm.

1200 coupe rear axle assembly is nearly same as B210 coupe
1200 sedan rear axle assembly is nearly same as B210 sedan
The 1974 B210 rear axle assembly (H145) is probably identical to 1200.

datman, measure the ute diff axle tube diameter where the u-bolts go around. That is perhaps the easiest way.

Does anyone know how much wider the ute diff will be compared to the sedan diff assy? I did a search but couldnt find any where that had the exact measurements of the ute and sedan,
